August 2023, in what Grant describes as a rare privilege, Grant was appointed as a Software Engineer for
Eight Wire Limited
and was introduced to the world of CI/CD, AWS Services, Terraform, and Serverless.
It broke my heart to have to move on from Eight Wire.
A great company doing great things with great people.
In January 2022 Grant started work as a Full Stack Web Developer for
findatruckload.co.nz
using c#, .net framework, .net core, and Angular JS running on Azure services.
A great experience, another great team.
While working with the MidCentral DHB (2006-2010 and 2012-2022), first in the Information Systems (Digital Services)
team (2012-2017), and then in the Analytics and Business Advisory team (2017-2022), Grant was provided opportunity to
manage projects and staff, and develop software applications and analytical dashboards. He continues to offer his services to the
Analytics and Finance teams whenever they require his skill set.
The MidCentral DHB Analytics team is fine bunch of folk
he reflects,
As with most who work in health they
consistently do more with less. I have been left in awe at the dedication and high levels of discretionary
effort these folk put in. They really do understand that there are people in need at the end of everything they do.
The MidCentral DHB Analytics team exposed Grant to the QLIK Sense Analytics tool which he worked with for over 2 years.
From 2010 to 2012 Grant worked with the Deparment of Internal Affairs's collaborating with their Web Enablement
team as a Lotus Notes web developer. The Web Enablement team would supply HTML mock ups for Grant to convert to dynamic HTML
using the Lotus Notes/Domino Server groupware.
He has also worked as a Lotus Notes/Domino Server developer (now HCL Notes) from 2000 to 2006,
and again from 2010 to 2012 using Lotus Script, x-Pages, and Dojo.js.
Previous to his entering the world of IT Grant gained real world experience in commercial enterprises
which, as a "consumer of IT Services" gave him a very clear understanding of the value of a
dollar and the frustrations non-technical people have dealing with Information Technology.
Grant is the Owner/Director of Code Out Loud Limited, and with his co-colaborators offers his services as a analyst and software engineer.
